Why We Don’t Wear Leather + Our Favorite Alternatives

What's wrong with leather? Isn't it just making sure no part of the animal is wasted? If I buy non-leather bags/shoes/belts, won't they be poor quality?  We get a ton of questions about the use of leather and its alternatives over here at Rebelle Kitchen. It's also one of the subjects we've spent the most time researching, as finding (cute) non-leather shoes was one of the hardest parts of us becoming vegan. In today's post, we talk about our main reasons for saying no to leather while also ... View the Post

Settling into New Routines: Grey + White Part 2

Check out Part 1 of this post here. I'm starting to get into the swing of things with the new job. Last week was a big adjustment after not working for four (!) months, but week two has felt great. Since I'm only working from 1-6 each day, I convinced myself that I should be able to blog, clean, read, run errands, and work out everyday before I went to work. Um, no. Just because I'm working less hours doesn't mean that I'm not working. (And even then, there's only so many hours in a day.) ... View the Post

Our Favorite Fall Boots

We may still be rocking flip flops and tank tops over here in the 85 degree heat, but we're dreaming of fall weather. Crisp, cool air, changing leaves, and a chance to stop sweating. A girl can dream, right? Since most boots are made of leather, a good vegan pair is hard to find. Luckily, stores like DSW, Old Navy, and Target offer a variety of styles that are cruelty-free. (DSW is our #1 favorite for quality + style.) Not sure if your shoes are vegan or not? In the description, check and see ... View the Post

My New York Trip: Why I Went, What I Did, What I Wore

Drumroll please...I got a job! Y'all this job search thing has been WAY tougher than I thought. I figured I'd come back from yoga teacher training and snap up a part time admin/office job in no time. Mmm...not so much. This whole process has made it obvious that NO ONE understands the variety of jobs teachers actually do. The management and administrative duties I performed daily were right up there with an office or executive assistant, and yet my interviewers acted like they were surprised ... View the Post

Leopard Accessories for Fall

It's no secret that I'm a little obsessed with leopard. (Ok, a lot.) It's a neutral that I love to pair with black, navy, brights...pretty much everything. I prefer pops of leopard in a shoe, scarf, or clutch vs. clothing pieces, since they elevate my otherwise basic capsule wardrobe. Plus, having leopard accessories means I get more use out of them as I can rotate them through multiple outfits. I shared this vegan leopard clutch in last week's capsule post and it's one of my best finds ever. ... View the Post

even more blue + white, plus how to stay sane during football season

Confession: a tiny part of me hates football season. Anyone who has ever seen me try to catch a ball knows I am not an athlete. Growing up, all the other kids were sucking on orange slices during their soccer games, and I had my nose buried in a book. You know that feeling of being picked last for the team? That was me...every gym class. (Seriously, can the gym teachers just make the teams so I have one less issue to discuss with a therapist?) In college, I grew to love going to Gator ... View the Post

Fall 2017 Capsule Wardrobe

It's here! I've had the best time planning + shopping for my fall capsule, and I'm even more excited to share it with you. Today's post is a long one, but here's what we'll cover: My fall capsule Inspiration + planning Items by category My wardrobe goals in 3 words: classic, chic, effortless Planning: Aaaah, hindsight. I learned so much in my summer capsule and feel that this fall version is more cohesive, from the shapes to the color palette. I was able to carry a lot of ... View the Post

Wrapping Up for Fall: Capsule Reflections

Get it? Wrapping up for fall? (Insert canned sitcom laughter.) Reality hit me yesterday when school buses were zooming by our window and I wasn't at school. This is the first time in eight years that the first day of school has had zero effect on my schedule, and it's weird. Happy, but weird nonetheless. I wished many of my old students + teacher friends good luck, then spent the day writing, blogging, and shopping the Lilly After Party Sale. #livingthedream. Though the transition has been ... View the Post

White Jeans Part 4: Chambray and White

{Check out Parts 1-3 of this post here, here, and here.} Raise your hand if you're ready for fall. (Me!) I'm in the thick of planning + purchasing my fall capsule, and it's been so much fun. Personally, I'm ready for a day without sweating and some crisp, cool fall air. Since getting back from yoga teacher training, I've been decluttering like a madwoman (just ask Patrick). I'm hoping to use $$$ I make from consigning/selling old clothes to majorly fund my fall purchases. So far, so ... View the Post

white jeans part 3: preppy to the max

{Check out Parts 1 and 2 of this post here and here.} I taught my third Creating a Capsule Wardrobe class last night and had an absolute blast. Our group was small but mighty, the wine was flowing, and the personalities just clicked. Pretty sure we were all weaving friendship bracelets by the end of it. What a great transition back into the "real world" after being in yogaland for 30 days straight. White jeans = summer MVP. No surprise there. You'll remember this shirt from my scallop ...
