Cozy Chic : My Favorite Leopard Sweater

Coziness is pretty much the only thing I like about winter. I’ll take any excuse to hang out around the house in my fuzzy slippers, leggings, and an oversized sweatshirt. (Sorry, Patrick.) Winter uniform = on fleek. But then there are those occasions I have to leave the house, which present a conundrum. How can I get away with my same winter uniform while making it look like I put some effort into my appearance?

The answer: this outfit. When I first tried on this turtleneck sweater, I was determined to return it due to its boxy shape. (Blxy top + pear shape does not usually equal a winning combination.) Then I found myself throwing it on over my yoga clothes before heading to a class, then again when I was home and snuggling with my boys on the couch. Before I knew it, I was wearing it every day. So much for that return window. While it IS boxy, pairing it with a slim pant and monochromatic boot balance it out.

I’m a firm believer that life is better when you aren’t wearing “real” pants, i.e. no zippers or buttons. (When I was in TFA, a few of my teacher friends and I had a contest to see who could get away with wearing yoga pants to work as “professional” dress. The winner wore them for thirty days straight.) These ponte pants may just be my capsule MVP, as they’re thick enough to feel like a pant, but stretchy enough to curl up on the couch in. They are literally made for nanny/yoga teacher life and I’m here for it.

Real talk: how did I go so long without owning black boots? These have gotten more use than any other shoe in my closet this capsule. I particularly love pairing them with my Old Navy fuzzy socks so I can pretend I’m wearing my fuzzy slippers out and about. Are you noticing a theme here? #lazy.

So there it is, folks: the “I’m forcing myself to leave the house” version of my favorite winter uniform. My cold-weather motto: Stay warm, snuggle up, and never wear real pants if you get away with it.
