Not going to lie, I thought I’d be a little bored working part time.
Bored? What is this “bored”?
Instead, life has been coming at us from a million different directions. For starters, I didn’t anticipate being at the doctor every other day for treatment for my tension headaches (that’s dialed back, but my spine was messed up y’all). Between doctor appointments, writing, squeezing in a yoga practice, and getting all of the random chores/errands done that life requires, I feel just as busy as I did when I was teaching. The difference is that I’m not bone-tired at the end of the day, even if I’m been going nonstop since 6am.
The cherry on top? We’re moving. Long story short: our one-bedroom apartment shares a wall with the lobby of our complex, where they play music. We’ve always been able to faintly hear the music when we were home and the office was open, but those occasions were so rare we thought nothing of it. Once I started to be home all day, however, thumping bass became a bit more distracting. It got to the point where we could sit on our couch with the bedroom door closed and still hear the music pounding through the bedroom wall. Mmmmm…how ’bout no. One of the things I enjoy most about being home all day is the quiet, and I have zero desire to feel as though I live next to a discotheque. (Seriously y’all – it was loud.) After a few distressing weeks of trying to find solutions, we just agreed to go our separate ways.
Honestly, this is inconvenient timing – we need to be out in less than 30 days – but a blessing for sure. I’m so ready to be done with one bedroom apartment life. 700 square feet would be perfect for a single person, but it’s a bit tight for two adults and a dog. I want a guest bedroom, natural light, and a yard for Brody to run around in. I want to have a friend over without giving them seventeen million directions about how to get to my door. (Dial this number, walk up two flights, take a right…). Our living area only has one North-facing window, so it’s basically pitch black inside 24/7. Hence why taking pictures for the blog is…tough.
Bottom line: this is a good thing. More space, more sunshine, more simplicity. Today’s capsule outfit goes with the spirit of simple and my go-to combination since it’s still 80+ degrees outside. Sleeveless vests are one of my favorite “outerwear” items, as they feel super cozy but make an outfit look finished. This lightweight grey number makes me look like I’m dressing for fall, even though I’m piling on my natural deodorant and cranking up the A/C every chance I get. Fall weather, I’m ready whenever you are.
