Happy New Year’s Eve y’all!
Shocking surprise: I tend to hate New Year’s Eve. There’s SO much pressure to have the best time ever, it’s crazy expensive to go anywhere, and it’s freezing cold. Oh, and you’re supposed to wear clothing that pretends it’s not freezing cold. New Year’s is the July 4th of winter: FOMO inducing and overrated.
With that, I love the actual New Year: a chance to reflect, to start fresh, to put your best foot forward. I always set intentions and goals, but I’m not super rigid with them. And every year I reread Eat, Pray, Love as my first book of the year. (It’s something I look forward to the most!)
Now that we’re in our 30s, I’m a big fan of NYE house parties. BIG FAN. No $150 cover fees, and I can sit down and eat lots of snacks. (Hence why going to the gym will be one of my intentions.) This year we’re having a cozy night in with two of our favorite couples (and you know them from Elise + Hope.) I plan on kicking off my shoes, toasting with some champs, and playing What Do You Meme to ring in 2018. Exactly my kind of New Year’s.
I added this sparkly skirt to my winter capsule just for the occasion (I had plenty of space!), and also wore it to a family holiday party. The best part? It’s <$50 and worked so well with these tops and shoes that were already in my capsule. Definitely a party/holiday staple that I’m pumped to have found. (Bonus: it’s comfy too!)
