the best self-tanner for summer

I know you’ve probably had horrible experiences with sunless tanner. Orange streaks, chemical smell, and neon palms post-application. I’ve been there. One of my strongest memories of football games in college (Go Gators!) is the Florida heat mixed with the metallic tang of self-tanner. Mmmmm. Sweat and chemicals, the perfect combination!

I recommend sunless tanner because I try to avoid sun damage as much as possible. That means SPF 15+ on my face, hands, and neck each morning, and a big hat and sunscreen when I’m out at the pool. So while I don’t love putting on chemicals that absorb into my skin, I also don’t want skin cancer (ok fine, wrinkles). Everything’s a trade-off.

I love sunless tanner for a boost of confidence before a special occasion or trip. After way too much trial and error (see college anecdote above), I’ve finally stumbled upon the best self-tanner ever: Paula’s Choice Sun 365 Self-Tanning Foam. Not only does it give the most natural color, it’s a foam that dries in <5 minutes. No more walking around in the buff for 30+ minutes waiting for lotion to dry. Also, the smell is so minimal that no one else will ever notice it. (100% of husbands who participated in this study confirmed this to be true. Aka Patrick.)

Did I mention it’s less than $20?

Another reason this stuff is awesome: it means no more shelling out $50 for spray tans, which you want to avoid at all costs. Sprays=you inhale those chemicals. The Environmental Working Group recommends staying away from spray sunscreens for this reason as well. Here at Rebelle Kitchen we try to do our best but also live in the real world. That means no spray tans/spray sunscreen, and keeping our spray hair products to a minimum. (But I live in the South and need hairspray, hence why I say to a minimum.) Also, Paula’s Choice never tests on animals, which is our #1 criteria when searching for products.

If you use this link, you’ll get $10 off your first order and I’ll get a $10 credit. It’s called a win-win people. Happy tanning!

Thank you for reading my mind (and saving my see through legs) with this post. Also, I giggled at the Patrick approval. What a good blogger hubby!
